Nandini Bagchee is the principal of Bagchee Architects and an associate professor at the City College of New York (CUNY). She has a wide range of experience in research-based design work that centers on cultural spaces that sustain community. Her design work has been published and exhibited widely in New York and beyond.
Nandini Bagchee is also a writer and the author of a book on the history and impact of activist-run spaces in New York City entitled, Counter Institution: Activist Estates of the Lower East Side (Fordham University Press, 2018). She is frequently invited to discuss her work at universities and other public forums locally and globally. She is the recipient of grants from the New York State Council of the Arts, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and the Graham Foundation. Nandini Bagchee holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Cooper Union and a Master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is licensed to practice architecture in the state of New York.

Ngawang Tenzin is a project designer and community coordinator at Bagchee Architects. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Bernard and Anne Spitzer school architecture at the City College of New York (CUNY) in 2020. He was the recipient of the Castagna Architecture Scholarship (2019) and was the AIA Brooklyn Scholar (2018). At Bagchee Architects Ngawang has been actively involved in community outreach, workshops, and design development. Born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, and growing up in Queens, New York, Ngawang is interested in diasporic bridge building and is an active member of the Tibetan Equality Project, a queer Tibetan collective based in Queens, New York.

Olgu Aytac is a design professional with over 20 years of experience in residential and commercial architecture in New York and Europe. She worked on projects of various types and scales, ranging from interior renovations to ground-up building complexes. In recent years, her focus has been interior townhouse renovations and creating spaces for hospitality and retail. She has broad experience in project management, leading projects through all stages of design, from schematic to completion. She has extensive knowledge of NYC Zoning and Building Code, strong understanding of detailing, and mechanical/ structural coordination. Ms. Aytac is committed to finding affordable, unique, and elegant solutions to complex spatial problems, making sure the projects move on track and are completed on time and within budget.
