The Point at Socrates Sculpture Park

The Point at Socrates Sculpture Park

Queens, New York

The Point aims to unlock a currently restricted section of the Socrates Sculpture Park in Astoria, Queens. This vast open-air studio, filled with large steel beams and plates, serves both as workspace and materials storage for Mark DiSuvero’s sculptures. DiSuvero, who founded the park in 1986, envisioned it as a community-driven and accessible arts space. Bagchee Architect worked closely with director Katie Dixon to develop a phased plan for unveiling The Point to the public. This approach will allow visitors to engage with the impressive steel sculptures while continuing the park’s commitment to making art accessible to all.

Project Team: Nandini Bagchee, Ngawang Tenzin, Shadeen Dixon.
